National Farmers' Week in Vavuniya

The  Agriculture Ministry has organized "National Farmers Week" from August 1 to 5 at the Agricultural College in Vavuniya to bringing together farmers from all over the country to take part in an agricultural work shop, a Ministry press release stated.

The aim of the work shop is to enhance agricultural productivity  using modern nursery methods to increase seed production and to share agricultural knowhow between North and South, it said.

At this workshop they will undergo training in new grafting methods, technical knowhow and the minimum utilization of artificial fertilizer and more organic manure. 
An Agricultural exhibition will also  be held to expose the development made in domestic agriculture during the past two years, the release added.
According to the  Agriculture Ministry  this will help uplift  individual households to be self reliant.
